The Plot Plan

The plot plan, also called the lot plan, is a scale drawing with a wealth of useful information. Among a few things this document can confirm are, structure dimensions, true north, easements, property lines, elevation and distances.

The plot plan for a property can be often obtained through the developer, or the city or county offices. If the information does not exist through these sources, then a surveyor could be hired to create a plot plan.

While it does simplify the process, a design can certainly be completed without a plot plan. The next two steps are the interview and survey, if the plot plan is not available, they will provide an opportunity to gather all the necessary information.
