Maintainable

It has to work

Maintainability is closely related to functionality and ideally will be nearly as prominent in design consideration. A functional design can be easily used by people and a maintainable design is easy for people to care for.

A sustainable landscape will, by its very nature, be more easily maintainable. Less trimming is required and also less fertilizer, pesticide, equipment and irrigation will be needed.

GOOD MAINTAINABLE DESIGNS

Avoid or eliminate designs like hedges that require regular shaping.

Maintenance---Hedges-(Updated)

Reduce string trimming by using edging and borders sparingly, or not at all.
